About the Volvo PV444

The Volvo PV444 was the Swedish manufacturer's first post-war success, famously blending American-inspired fastback styling with European efficiency. It was the first Volvo to feature a unitary body and a laminated windscreen, establishing the brand's long-standing commitment to safety and structural integrity. The 1.4-litre B4B engine was renowned for its durability, eventually proving its mettle in international rallying. While production was initially hampered by post-war material shortages, the PV444's reputation for being 'indestructible' helped it become Volvo's first major export to the United States.
