About the Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III XR-XY
The XY-generation GT-HO Phase III is the ultimate expression of Australian muscle, built as a homologation special for the Bathurst 500. It is instantly recognisable by its 'Shaker' hood scoop, which is bolted directly to the air cleaner of the 351 Cleveland V8 and protrudes through the bonnet. While officially rated at 300 hp to appease insurers, true output was closer to 380 hp, allowing it to dominate the 1971 Australian Touring Car Championship. It remains the most coveted Australian collector car, representing the peak of the 'Supercar' era before safety concerns halted development of its successor.
