About the Fiat Tipo 1
The Fiat Tipo 1, also known as the 12/15 HP, represented a significant shift in early 20th-century automotive engineering by adopting a monobloc engine design where all four cylinders were cast together. This innovation made the engine lighter and more compact than the multi-block designs common at the time. It was designed as a reliable, mid-sized car for the burgeoning motoring middle class, offering a four-speed gearbox which was advanced for its era. Today, it is a rare survivor of the Edwardian period, valued by collectors for its role in establishing Fiat's reputation for robust engineering.
