About the Fiat 512
The Fiat 512 was introduced in 1926 as a sophisticated evolution of the earlier 510, serving as the brand's flagship luxury model. While it retained the robust 3.4-litre side-valve straight-six engine, the 512 featured a significantly improved chassis with a wider track and, most notably, the addition of brakes to all four wheels—a major safety advancement for the era. It was typically bodied as a grand Torpedo or Landaulet, catering to a wealthy clientele who prioritised smooth touring over outright speed. With only 2,600 units produced before it was succeeded by the 520, it remains a rare and dignified representative of Italian pre-war engineering.
