About the Ferrari 308 GTB
Introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the 308 GTB was the two-seater successor to the Dino 246, featuring a mid-mounted 2.9-litre V8 engine. While the earliest cars were famously bodied in 'Vetroresina' (fiberglass), the 1980 model represents the final year of the carburetted steel-bodied version, which is highly prized for its mechanical purity and dry-sump lubrication in European spec. Its wedge-shaped profile, designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, defined the Ferrari aesthetic for a generation. The 1980 transition year saw the introduction of fuel injection (GTBi), making these final carburetted cars a collector favourite for their superior sound and power.
