About the Dodge Ram Van B-Series
Introduced for the 1971 model year, the B-Series Dodge Ram Van replaced the ageing forward-control A100 with a modern 'semi-bonnet' design. This layout moved the engine forward, significantly improving cabin ergonomics, cooling, and crash safety compared to its predecessor. The 225 cubic-inch 'Slant-6' engine became a legend for its durability and ease of maintenance, making it a staple for fleet buyers. Beyond utility, this generation became the primary canvas for the American 'vanning' subculture, often featuring elaborate airbrushed murals and shag-carpet interiors.

Dodge Ram Van B-Series fun facts
- The B-Series used a unique unibody-style construction called 'Unibeam', which allowed for a lower floor height compared to contemporary Ford and GM vans.
- The 225 Slant-6 engine was tilted at a 30-degree angle, which allowed for a lower hood line and easier access to the water pump and spark plugs.
- Dodge dominated the van market in the 1970s, at one point accounting for nearly 40 per cent of all van sales in the United States.
