About the Dodge Aspen
The Dodge Aspen was introduced in 1976 as a more refined successor to the rugged but ageing Dart, sharing its F-body platform with the Plymouth Volaré. While it featured improved visibility and a smoother ride thanks to a new transverse torsion bar front suspension, its reputation was quickly marred by significant quality control issues and numerous recalls. The 3.7-litre 'Slant-6' engine remained a high point, noted for its exceptional durability even as the surrounding bodywork suffered from premature corrosion. Today, surviving early examples are rare due to these rust issues, making well-preserved cars a curiosity for Mopar enthusiasts.
