About the Renault 16
Launched in 1973, the TX was the flagship of the Renault 16 range, featuring a larger 1647cc engine and a five-speed gearbox for improved cruising. It is widely regarded as the first production car to popularise the hatchback body style, blending the comfort of a saloon with the versatility of an estate. The TX trim is distinguished by its four square headlights, Gordini-style wheels, and a rear spoiler. Its soft, long-travel suspension provided a legendary ride quality that remains a benchmark for French classics.
