About the Daihatsu Sonica
Launched in 2006, the Daihatsu Sonica was a unique entry in the kei car segment, marketed as a 'long-distance tourer' rather than a typical city runabout. It featured a low-slung profile and a class-leading 2,440mm wheelbase to improve stability and ride quality at higher speeds. The RS Limited trim was the range-topper, equipped with a 7-speed manual mode for its CVT and a turbocharged KF-DET engine that pushed the legal 64 PS limit for the class. Despite its refined driving dynamics and high-quality interior, it struggled to find a large audience and was discontinued after only three years.
