About the Daihatsu Fourtrak

The Daihatsu Fourtrak, known as the Rocky or Rugger outside the UK, earned a legendary reputation as a bulletproof agricultural tool. While its leaf-sprung ride was famously harsh until the 1993 'Independent' update, its 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine provided immense low-end torque and a class-leading 3,500kg towing capacity. It remains a cult favourite among rural owners for its mechanical simplicity and genuine off-road prowess that often embarrassed more expensive rivals. By 1995, the model featured a wider body and improved interior, though it never lost its rugged, utilitarian character.
