About the Citroën C3 Pluriel
The Citroën C3 Pluriel is one of the most ambitious experiments in automotive modularity, designed to function as a hatchback, a panoramic saloon, a cabriolet, a spider, and even a pick-up. Based on the 1999 Pluriel Concept, it features a multi-layer fabric roof that slides back along two prominent side arches. While innovative, the design is famously impractical; to achieve the full 'spider' look, the heavy side arches must be manually removed and left at home, leaving the driver vulnerable to sudden weather changes. Despite its flaws, it remains a cult classic for its cheerful design and unique approach to open-air motoring.
