About the Chevrolet Blazer
Introduced for the 1983 model year, the S-10 Blazer was Chevrolet's response to the growing demand for smaller, more fuel-efficient off-roaders. Based on the S-10 pickup, it was significantly smaller than the full-size K5 Blazer, making it more manageable for daily urban use while retaining genuine 4WD capability. The 2.8-litre LR2 V6 was the range-topping engine at launch, though it was often criticised for being underpowered compared to later 4.3-litre versions. Today, early S-10 Blazers are gaining traction as accessible modern classics, valued for their boxy 1980s styling and historical role in popularising the SUV body style.

- Unlike the full-size K5 Blazer, the S-10 version featured a fixed steel roof rather than a removable fibreglass top.
- The 2.8-litre V6 engine used in the 1983 Blazer was a 60-degree design shared with the Chevrolet Citation and other GM X-body cars.
