About the Chery A5

Launched in 2006, the Chery A5 represented a significant step forward for the Chinese manufacturer, featuring the ACTECO engine range developed in partnership with Austria's AVL. The sedan's design was often compared to contemporary Nissan models, though it was technically based on a modified General Motors J platform. It gained historical importance as the platform for the A5ISG, widely cited as China's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle. While primarily a budget-focused family car, its global reach was extensive, being assembled and sold under various names in Russia, Egypt, and Iran.
