About the BMW Z3 M Roadster
The BMW M Roadster (E36/7) was the high-performance flagship of the Z3 range, combining the compact roadster body with the 3.2-litre S50 engine from the E36 M3 Evolution. While it utilised the semi-trailing arm rear suspension from the older E30 3 Series, its wide-body stance and quad-exhaust system gave it a distinctively aggressive character. The 1999 model year represents the peak of the S50-powered European cars, known for their raw, analogue driving experience and tail-happy handling. It remains a sought-after collector car for its unique blend of classic roadster proportions and genuine M-division engineering.
