About the Lexus IS F
The IS F was the first vehicle to wear the 'F' badge, representing the Fuji Speedway where much of its development took place. Chief Engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi led a skunkworks team to shoehorn a Yamaha-tuned 5.0-litre V8 into the compact IS chassis, creating a direct rival to the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63. It debuted the world's first 8-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission, capable of 0.1-second upshifts. While early models were criticised for a stiff ride, the IS F is now celebrated for its bulletproof reliability and characterful, high-revving naturally aspirated engine.
