About the BMW M3 Lightweight E36
The BMW M3 Lightweight (LTW) was a North American exclusive created to homologate the E36 for IMSA Firehawk and SCCA racing. It is significantly lighter than the standard US M3, shedding approximately 91kg through the removal of air conditioning, radio, and sound deadening, alongside the addition of aluminium door skins. While it used the standard 240hp US-spec S50 engine, it featured a shorter final drive ratio and Euro-spec suspension for sharper response. Finished only in Alpine White with distinctive Motorsport checkered flag decals, it has become one of the most coveted E36 variants for its pure, analogue driving experience.
