About the BMW M3 CRT E90
The M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) is a highly exclusive, four-door counterpart to the track-focused E92 M3 GTS. It served as a laboratory for BMW's then-new Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) production methods, which were later utilised for the i3 and i8. By using CFRP for the bonnet, front bucket seats, and rear spoiler, BMW shed 45kg over the standard saloon while retaining a full luxury interior. It features the enlarged 4.4-litre S65 V8, a titanium exhaust, and a bespoke coilover suspension setup, making it one of the most balanced and desirable M cars of the modern era.

BMW M3 CRT E90 fun facts
- The CRT's bonnet is made from two CFRP layers sandwiching an aramid honeycomb, making it as strong as steel but weighing 50% less than the standard aluminium part.
- Only 67 customer units were produced, with just five of those being right-hand drive, making it significantly rarer than the M3 GTS or the E46 M3 CSL.
- Every CRT was finished in the same colour scheme: Frozen Polar Silver metallic paint with Melbourne Red accents on the bonnet vents and kidney grille.
