About the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer F45
The F45 2 Series Active Tourer marked a radical departure for BMW as the brand's first front-wheel-drive production car and its first MPV-style hatchback. Built on the UKL2 platform shared with MINI, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, offering a higher seating position and greater versatility than the 1 Series. The 218i variant features the B38 three-cylinder engine, which provides a balance of efficiency and sufficient torque for urban environments. While it lacked the rear-drive dynamics purists expected, it succeeded in attracting a new demographic to the brand through its premium interior and clever packaging.
