About the Austin A35

The Austin A35 was the final evolution of the 'New Seven' design, replacing the A30 with a larger 948cc A-Series engine and a revised gearbox. Its unitary construction was advanced for the early 1950s, and the A35 is easily distinguished from its predecessor by a larger rear window and a painted front grille. Despite its modest output, the A35's light weight and nimble handling made it a successful competition car in period. Today, it enjoys a cult following in historic motorsport, notably in the St Mary's Trophy at the Goodwood Revival, which has significantly bolstered its collector appeal.
