About the Austin A110 Westminster
The Austin A110 Westminster Mk II represented the final evolution of BMC's large Farina-styled saloons. Introduced in 1964, the Mk II brought significant mechanical refinements over the Mk I, most notably a new four-speed gearbox with a floor-mounted shifter and smaller 13-inch wheels to improve handling. It shared its 2.9-litre C-Series engine with the Austin-Healey 3000, providing effortless torque and a top speed exceeding 100 mph. Inside, the Westminster offered a quintessentially British executive experience with leather upholstery and walnut veneers, positioned as a more conservative alternative to the Jaguar Mark 2.

Austin A110 Westminster fun facts
- The A110 Westminster was a popular choice for British police forces in the 1960s, often serving as high-speed motorway patrol cars.
- Though styled by Pininfarina, the Westminster shared its basic body shell with the more upmarket Wolseley 6/110 and the Vanden Plas Princess 3-Litre.
- The Mk II's move to 13-inch wheels was intended to lower the centre of gravity and improve the car's somewhat 'nautical' handling characteristics.
