About the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II
The Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II, introduced in 1961, represents the peak of the 'Big Healey' roadster era before the transition to more civilized grand touring features. It is most famous for its triple SU HS4 carburettor setup, which provided a distinctive induction roar and a slight power bump over the Mk I. The 1961 models retained the classic roadster aesthetic with a flat windscreen and removable side curtains, offering a raw, wind-in-the-hair driving experience. While the triple-carb setup was later replaced by twin carbs for easier maintenance, these early Mk IIs remain highly prized by collectors for their mechanical purity and rally-bred heritage.
