About the Audi SQ7 4M
The Audi SQ7 TDI debuted as the performance flagship of the second-generation Q7, showcasing a technologically advanced 4.0-litre V8 diesel engine. It utilised two sequential turbochargers and a pioneering 48V electric-powered compressor (EPC) to virtually eliminate turbo lag, providing 900Nm of torque from just 1,000rpm. Despite its 2.3-tonne kerb weight, the SQ7 offered sports-car-rivalling acceleration combined with seven-seat practicality and impressive long-distance efficiency. It remains a significant milestone in diesel engineering before Audi transitioned the SQ7 to petrol power in 2020.

Audi SQ7 4M fun facts
- The SQ7 was the first production car to use a 48-volt electrical subsystem to power an electric compressor, which spins to 70,000rpm in less than 250 milliseconds.
- Its V8 diesel engine produces the same 900Nm torque figure as the Ferrari LaFerrari, but achieves it at a significantly lower 1,000rpm.
- The SQ7 features an electromechanical active roll stabilisation system that uses the 48V system to twist the anti-roll bars, keeping the heavy SUV flat through corners.
