About the Audi S2 B3
Launched in 1990 as the spiritual successor to the original Quattro, the Audi S2 Coupé was the first model to carry the now-famous 'S' badge. It utilised the proven 2.2-litre 20-valve turbocharged five-cylinder engine from the Audi 200, paired with a permanent Torsen-based quattro all-wheel-drive system. While it traded the flared arches and raw aggression of its predecessor for 1990s refinement and 'soap-bar' aerodynamics, it offered a more sophisticated, all-weather grand touring experience. Early 3B-coded models like this 1991 example are distinguished by their five-speed gearboxes and 220 PS output before the 1993 ABY update.
