About the Volkswagen Polo R WRC 6R
The Polo R WRC Street was built as a limited-run homologation special to satisfy FIA regulations for Volkswagen's entry into the World Rally Championship. Unlike the all-wheel-drive rally car, the road version is front-wheel drive and powered by the 2.0-litre EA113 engine from the Golf GTI (Mk6), making it the most powerful production Polo of its era. It features a distinctive white livery with blue and grey stripes, 18-inch 'Cagliari' wheels, and an Alcantara-trimmed interior. While it lacks a mechanical limited-slip differential, its rarity and direct link to VW's four-year WRC winning streak make it a significant modern classic for hot hatch collectors.

Volkswagen Polo R WRC 6R fun facts
- Every one of the 2,500 units produced was built in left-hand drive, even for the few examples that made it to the UK as special imports.
- The car uses the older EA113 engine architecture rather than the EA888 found in the contemporary Golf Mk7, chosen for its proven reliability in high-performance applications.
- Despite the 'R' branding, it is strictly front-wheel drive, whereas the full-fat Golf R of the same era utilised a Haldex all-wheel-drive system.
