About the Audi Cabriolet 8G
Introduced in 1991, the Audi Cabriolet (Typ 8G) was the brand's first soft-top since the 1950s, based on the B3-generation Coupe. It was famously over-engineered, featuring a reinforced windscreen frame that eliminated the need for a roll bar, maintaining a clean, sleek profile. The 2.6-litre V6 variant offered a smooth, refined power delivery suited for grand touring rather than outright sports driving. Despite the arrival of the A4, the Cabriolet's timeless design kept it in production until 2000, eventually being assembled by Karmann. It remains a popular modern classic for its build quality and understated elegance.
