About the Alpine A110
The Alpine A110 1600S represents the peak of the Berlinette's development before the arrival of the fuel-injected models. Built around a steel backbone chassis with a featherweight fibreglass body, it utilised the aluminium-block engine from the Renault 16 TS to achieve a remarkable power-to-weight ratio. Its rear-engine layout and short wheelbase provided legendary agility, making it a dominant force in international rallying during the early 1970s. For collectors, the 1600S is the most desirable road-going variant, celebrated for its pure mechanical connection and significant motorsport pedigree, including a 1-2-3 sweep at the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally.
