About the Alpina B9 3.5 E28
Introduced in 1981, the Alpina B9 3.5 was the first Alpina based on the E28 5 Series platform. It arrived years before BMW's own M5, offering a sophisticated blend of high-speed stability and luxury that defined the Buchloe manufacturer's philosophy. Alpina modified the BMW M30 engine with high-compression Mahle pistons, a bespoke camshaft, and a reprogrammed Bosch Motronic system to achieve 245 PS. The B9 is easily identified by its signature 20-spoke wheels, deep front spoiler, and optional 'Deco' pinstriping, making it a highly coveted alternative to the more aggressive M-division cars.
