About the Volvo S60 Mk3
The third-generation Volvo S60 marked a significant shift for the brand, being the first Volvo produced in the United States and the first to be sold without a diesel engine option. Built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the B5 R-Design variant introduced mild-hybrid technology to the range, pairing a 48V integrated starter generator with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine for smoother stop-start transitions and improved efficiency. The R-Design trim adds a sportier edge with a lowered chassis, stiffer suspension tuning, and gloss black exterior detailing. While it prioritises comfort and safety over the raw agility of its German rivals, it remains a highly refined and distinctive alternative in the compact executive segment.
