About the Volvo PV544

The PV544 was a significant evolution of the PV444, featuring a larger one-piece windscreen and a wider rear seat to accommodate three passengers. The 1962 model introduced the legendary B18 engine, a robust unit derived from the P1800 sports car that cemented Volvo's reputation for bulletproof reliability. Despite its 1940s-inspired 'fastback' styling, the PV544 was a formidable competitor in motorsport, famously winning the Safari Rally in 1965. It offers a charmingly mechanical driving experience with surprisingly agile handling for its era.
