About the Volvo 260
The Volvo 260 series served as the flagship of the 200-series range, distinguished by its 'big nose' front grille and the PRV V6 engine developed in partnership with Peugeot and Renault. By 1984, the 2.8-litre B28E version offered improved reliability over earlier 2.7-litre units, providing a smoother, more torque-rich experience suited for executive cruising. While the 264 saloon was officially replaced by the 760 in most markets by 1982, production of the 260-series continued in limited forms, including the estate, until 1985. It remains a cult classic, prized for its tank-like build quality, orthopaedic seating, and understated Swedish luxury.
