About the Volkswagen Tiguan Mk1
Launched in 2007, the first-generation Volkswagen Tiguan was the brand's first entry into the compact SUV market, sitting below the larger Touareg. Built on the PQ46 platform shared with the Passat and Golf, it offered a more car-like driving experience than many contemporary rivals. The 2.0 TDI 140 was the most popular engine choice in the UK, providing a balance of low-end torque and reasonable fuel economy. While it lacked the off-road ruggedness of a Land Rover, its high-quality interior and refined road manners made it a massive commercial success for Volkswagen.
