About the Volkswagen Lavida

The first-generation Volkswagen Lavida was a pivotal model for SAIC-Volkswagen, designed specifically for the Chinese market to bridge the gap between the Jetta and the Passat. Built on the proven PQ34 platform shared with the Golf Mk4, it combined German mechanical reliability with a longer wheelbase and a more conservative, spacious body style preferred by local buyers. The 1.6-litre variant served as the volume seller, offering a balance of efficiency and durability. Its massive commercial success, often topping sales charts, cemented Volkswagen's dominance in the region during the early 2010s.
