About the Volkswagen Caddy Mk2
The second-generation Caddy (Typ 9K) was a compact panel van designed by SEAT from the Ibiza 6K and built at Martorell in Spain alongside its near-identical twin, the SEAT Inca. It used the Volkswagen Group A03 platform with front-end styling shared with the Polo Classic, and its tall load area offered about 2.9 cubic metres behind two asymmetric rear doors, with a typical payload of 550 kg. The 1.9 SDI version used a naturally aspirated 1,896 cc direct-injection diesel rated at 47 kW (64 PS), driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Volkswagen also offered a windowed five-seat Kombi, while the Caddy pick-up of the period (Typ 9U) was a rebadged Skoda Felicia built in the Czech Republic.
