About the Vauxhall Velox E-Type
The E-Type Velox (often designated EIP or EIPV) represented a significant shift for Vauxhall, moving away from pre-war designs toward a modern, integral 'three-box' silhouette. Heavily influenced by General Motors' American styling, it featured a prominent chrome grille and a spacious interior with a front bench seat and column-mounted gear change. The 2.3-litre 'square' engine introduced in 1952 provided smooth, low-end torque that made it a capable cruiser for the era. While it shared its body with the four-cylinder Wyvern, the Velox was the more prestigious choice until the even plusher Cresta arrived in 1954.
