About the Vauxhall Meriva B
The second-generation Vauxhall Meriva, known as the Meriva B, moved away from its Corsa-based roots to become a more sophisticated compact MPV. Its most distinctive feature is the 'FlexDoor' system, where the rear doors are rear-hinged to open to an angle of 84 degrees, significantly easing access for child seats and elderly passengers. The 140 hp 1.4-litre turbo engine was the range-topping petrol option, providing surprisingly punchy performance for a family hauler. While the MPV segment has since been eclipsed by SUVs, the Meriva remains a masterclass in interior packaging and ergonomic design.
