About the Triumph Stag
Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, the Triumph Stag was envisioned as a luxury 2+2 grand tourer to rival the Mercedes-Benz SL. It is most famous for its distinctive T-bar roll hoop, a design solution necessitated by looming US rollover safety regulations. While early reputation was marred by cooling issues and timing chain failures in its bespoke OHC V8, modern specialist knowledge has largely rectified these flaws. Today, it is a highly sought-after classic, prized for its smooth power delivery, four-seat practicality, and one of the most evocative exhaust notes of the 1970s.
