About the Toyota Matrix E140

The second-generation Toyota Matrix, introduced for the 2009 model year in early 2008, continued the 'Street Performance Utility' concept of its predecessor. Built on the E140 Corolla platform, it offered a more aggressive, swept-back design and improved interior ergonomics compared to the first generation. The base 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE engine focused on fuel efficiency and reliability rather than outright performance. While it lacks the enthusiast appeal of the XRS trim, the standard Matrix remains a highly regarded used choice for its vast cargo space and mechanical longevity.
