About the Proton Satria
The Proton Satria GTi was the Malaysian manufacturer's attempt to create a credible performance flagship, heavily leveraging their ownership of Lotus at the time. Lotus engineers significantly reworked the chassis, adding extra bracing and tuning the suspension to provide sharp, communicative handling that rivalled the best European hot hatches of the era. It is powered by a Mitsubishi-sourced 1.8-litre 4G93 engine, housed in a body distinguished by its bolt-on wheel arch extensions and square twin-exhaust tips. While the interior quality reflects its budget origins, the GTi is now a sought-after modern classic for its pure driving dynamics.
