About the Toyota bB XP30
Launched in 2000, the first-generation Toyota bB (XP30) became an instant cult classic for its unapologetically boxy design and immense interior space relative to its compact footprint. Based on the NBC platform shared with the Vitz (Yaris), it was designed to appeal to younger Japanese buyers who viewed their cars as mobile lounges. The 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE engine provides reliable, if modest, performance suited for city driving, while the column-mounted shifter allows for a bench-like front seat arrangement. Its success in Japan led to its export to North America as the Scion xB, though the original JDM bB remains a popular grey import for its unique character and customisation potential.
