About the Toro Rosso STR9

The STR9 was designed under technical director James Key for 2014 and was the first Toro Rosso to use a Renault engine, the 1.6-litre Energy F1-2014 V6 turbo hybrid, with a Red Bull Technology eight-speed gearbox. Jean-Éric Vergne was joined by 2013 GP3 Series champion Daniil Kvyat, who replaced Daniel Ricciardo after his promotion to Red Bull Racing. The car was a steady midfield runner, but its drivers finished just outside the points no fewer than eight times. Vergne's sixth place in Singapore was the team's best result, and Toro Rosso finished seventh in the Constructors' Championship with 30 points.
