About the Toro Rosso STR12
Scuderia Toro Rosso designed the STR12 from a clean sheet for the 2017 rules, using the same team in Faenza and Bicester that produced the STR11. It switched from year-old Ferrari engines to Renault R.E.17 units, which raced under the Toro Rosso name. Carlos Sainz Jr. scored 48 points in his 16 races, including fourth place in Singapore, while Daniil Kvyat managed five before both were replaced by Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley late in the year. The driver changes derailed the team's bid for sixth, and Toro Rosso finished seventh in the Constructors' Championship with 53 points.

Toro Rosso STR12 rarity in CarSpot
The Toro Rosso STR12 is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 42 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Toro Rosso STR12 fun facts
- The STR12 shared an unusual front suspension idea with the Mercedes W08, mounting the upper wishbone on a raised extension to keep airflow to the sidepods undisturbed.
- The Renault engines were rebadged, so the whole engine and chassis package raced simply under the name Toro Rosso.
- Carlos Sainz Jr. left for Renault four races before the end of 2017, the last season of Estrella Galicia sponsorship on the car.
