About the Suzuki Wagon R
Launched at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show, the first-generation Suzuki Wagon R redefined the kei car segment by prioritising vertical space over traditional proportions. Its 'tall boy' design allowed for an upright seating position and exceptional interior room within strict Japanese small-car dimensions. Early models were notable for their asymmetrical door layout, featuring one door on the driver's side and two on the passenger side to enhance safety during kerbside entry. While not a performance machine, its F6A three-cylinder engine provided reliable urban mobility, and its success forced every major Japanese manufacturer to develop a tall-wagon competitor.
