About the Suzuki Swift Mk1
The first-generation Suzuki Swift, known internally as the AA series, was developed in partnership with General Motors and launched as a global small car. In 1.3-litre guise, it offered a surprisingly spirited driving experience thanks to a kerb weight of just over 700kg and a rev-happy OHC engine. While basic in construction, its simplicity and reliability made it a popular choice in both European and North American markets, where it was also sold as the Chevrolet Sprint. Today, early Swifts are increasingly rare, valued by collectors for their pure, unassisted handling and role in Suzuki's international expansion.
