About the Subaru WRX VB
The fifth-generation Subaru WRX (VB) marks a significant shift, moving to the Subaru Global Platform for a 28% increase in torsional rigidity. It replaces the long-standing 2.0-litre unit with a larger 2.4-litre FA24F boxer engine, providing a broader torque curve and improved responsiveness. While the exterior styling, particularly the plastic wheel-arch cladding, proved controversial, the driving experience remains focused on all-weather traction and mechanical engagement. With the STI variant discontinued for this generation, the standard WRX now serves as the brand's primary performance flagship.
