About the Renault 15
Launched as a more accessible alternative to the quad-headlight Renault 17, the Renault 15 GTL arrived with the 1976 facelift, featuring a body-coloured grille surround and revised interior. It shared its front-wheel-drive platform and 1289cc 'Cléon-Fonte' engine with the dependable Renault 12, prioritising ease of maintenance over outright performance. The GTL trim offered a higher level of equipment than the base TL, including more comfortable seating and improved trim. Today, it is a rare sight on European roads, prized by collectors for its distinctive 1970s silhouette and large, wrap-around rear glass.
