About the Ram 1500 DR/DH
The 2003 model year marked the historic return of the Hemi nameplate to the Ram 1500, replacing the aging 5.9-litre Magnum V8. Part of the third-generation (DR/DH) redesign, it featured a new hydroformed frame and independent front suspension that significantly improved ride quality over its predecessors. The 5.7-litre 'Gen III' Hemi delivered class-leading power for a light-duty truck, making the Ram a genuine performance threat to Ford and GM. While early versions lacked the cylinder deactivation of later models, they are prized by collectors for their mechanical simplicity and the iconic V8 rumble that redefined the brand's identity.
