About the Porsche 944 Turbo
Introduced in 1985, the 944 Turbo (internal code 951) significantly elevated the performance of Porsche's front-engined transaxle line. It featured a reinforced gearbox, wider wheels, and Brembo four-piston brakes derived from the 911 plus, making it one of the best-handling cars of its era. The 2.5-litre engine utilised a KKK K26 turbocharger and an intercooler to produce a smooth but potent power delivery that rivalled the contemporary 911 Carrera. Its near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and aerodynamic 'puppy-dog' nose made it a formidable grand tourer and a favorite for club racing.
