About the Pontiac Solstice
The Solstice GXP was the performance realization of Bob Lutz's vision for a pure American roadster. While the base model was often criticised for being underpowered, the GXP introduced the LNF Ecotec engine, which was GM's first gasoline direct-injection engine and featured a dual-scroll turbocharger. Built on the rear-drive Kappa platform, it offered a near 50/50 weight distribution and a significantly stiffer, sport-tuned suspension compared to the standard car. Despite its compromised packaging and complex manual top, the GXP remains a sought-after enthusiast car for its punchy midrange torque and distinctive, muscular styling.
