About the Pontiac Montana
The second-generation Pontiac Montana, rebranded as the Montana SV6 for 2005, represented General Motors' effort to combat the decline of the minivan by adopting 'crossover' styling cues. It featured a longer, more squared-off nose and higher ground clearance intended to mimic the appearance of an SUV while retaining the sliding doors and seven-passenger seating of a traditional MPV. The 3.5-litre High Value V6 provided adequate power for family duties, though the platform was largely a carryover from the previous generation. While it remained popular in Canada, slow sales led to its withdrawal from the US market after 2006, eventually concluding production in 2009.

Pontiac Montana fun facts
- The Montana SV6 was part of a 'quadruplet' of GM minivans, sharing its platform and body with the Chevrolet Uplander, Saturn Relay, and Buick Terraza.
- Despite being discontinued in the US in 2006, the Montana remained a best-seller in Canada and continued production for that market until the Pontiac brand was shuttered.
- The 'SV6' suffix stood for 'Sport Vehicle 6-cylinder', a naming convention intended to distance the car from the 'minivan' label.
