About the Pontiac Fiero

The Pontiac Fiero GT represents the peak of General Motors' ambitious mid-engined experiment. Introduced for the 1986 model year, the GT trim featured a distinctive 'fastback' roofline and a 2.8-litre V6 that addressed the performance criticisms of earlier four-cylinder models. While the 1987 model retains the original suspension geometry derived from the GM parts bin, it benefits from the larger 12-gallon fuel tank introduced that year. Collectors value the GT for its unique wedge-shaped aesthetics, composite body panels, and its historical status as the first mass-produced American mid-engined sports car.
